Jon and Team were great to work with throughout the project. We had a few delays that Jon was more than willing to accommodate, and he was a great professional throughout. Our yard looks phenomenal and we haven’t had any follow-up issues since the installation.
Jon also went above and beyond and graveled our backup parking space because he had extra material. The whole project was completed faster than I anticipated and completely on budget. I would HIGHLY recommend Land Designs to anyone in Denver. Great job and thank you!

It was great working with Jon, Flavia, and the team. Jon provided a reasonably priced quote, made some recommendations, and completed the project in a timely manner.
I look forward to working with Land Designs by Colton again in the near future.
Landscape Design And Build Case Studies
New Modern Backyard renovation in Platt Park
This backyard in Denver was a great canvas for creating a modern outdoor area. We started by demolishing the old fence and cleaning up the entire backyard. Next, we installed a squared-pattern concrete patio with interlaced pebbles, as well as a concrete walkway.
After designing and building the smart irrigation system, we brought in and installed the new lawn. The whole look was completed with a fire pit and modern outdoor furniture.
The project was quoted at $17k, where the most expensive item was the fire feature, at $4,5k.
Xeriscape Front yard renovation in City Park
The owners of this home in Denver wanted more greenery into their backyard but specifically wanted to reduce water costs, so going with xeriscape plant materials was their first choice.
We started with updating the entrance with a a new concrete porch with planters and stairs. After installing the smart irrigation system, we added the xeriscape plants, which do great with low volumes of water and don’t require much maintenance.
We completed the look with landscape lighting so the entire area looks great at night too.
This project was quoted at $23k, where the concrete porch was the most expensive item, at $8k.
Front & backyard renovation in West Highland, Denver
This multiple level home landscape was one of our favorite projects. After thoroughly cleaning the area, the first step was building a retaining wall with natural stone. We also built a new walkway and installed a smart irrigation system.
Next it was time for new plant material and new lawn space. Custom landscape lighting highlights the walkways and most important landscape features.
The project was quoted at $40k, where the most expensive items were building the retaining walls and walkways, at $8k.

I chose Land Designs by Colton for a xeriscaping project in my front yard. Jonathan came out within a couple days of my initial request and was very helpful in determining the design and materials that would complement each other. I didn’t have a lot to offer in way of inspiration, but thankfully Jonathan put together a plan that looked great and fell within my budget.
Within two weeks the project was underway, and approximately 900 sq ft was transformed in under three days (including irrigation) and with no unexpected costs. Jonathan and his crew were polite, on time, efficient, and left everything in perfect state. I would not hesitate to use Land Designs by Colton for any future projects. Thank you!

Jon has been terrific to work with. He listened to my concerns and vision for my landscaping. From there, he was able to propose options.
He has always delivered as promised. I didn’t need to worry about his professionalism or punctuality. What I wanted and agreed to, he did.
He’s a terrific person to talk to and sound off ideas. Also, he is not “pushy”, more pragmatic and helpful. As a small business owner myself, I understand that your integrity and reputation is paramount. Lands Designs by Colton has achieved that and I would recommend him to anyone I know, and I have!
Paver Patio Case Studies
Bonnie Brae backyard Renovation
This 1,200 ft². backyard in Denver had a lot of potential, but the old garage and pond were limiting the lawn space. After demolishing the garage, we started clean with a Copthorne patio in three different paver colors. The herringbone pattern creates a traditional elegant look, and the beige cream accent border lightens up the overall appearance.
The fire feature extends the patio time by up to two months, and it’s a great focus point for the whole patio. For a bit of shading and style, we built a 16×16 rough cut cedar pergola. Its traditional style and architectural cuts contribute to the classic look.
We completed the patio with new lawn, plant materials, and irrigation, as well as drainage solution to keep the area dry and safe across the seasons.
The project was quoted at $145k, where the most expensive items were the patio and steps landing material, at $20k.
Hyde Park Polo Club Full Backyard Renovation
This classy 2,400 ft². backyard renovation started with replacing the old pavers with Richcliff pavers. They are cast from natural flagstone using the innovative Ultima™ Concrete Technology, which makes the material up to four times stronger than poured concrete pavers.
We finished up the pavers with a Copthorne accent border in a dark gray that brings that vintage look of European brick clay pavers.
There’s also a water feature strategically installed adjacent to the window to envelope the bedroom in its tranquil sounds. For the rest of the backyard, we incorporated flagstone into the walkways to soften the hard lines. The irrigation system and the plant materials liven up the area.
The project was quoted at $68k, where the most expensive item were the pavers material and foundation blocks, at $18k.
Modern Backyard in Highlands, Denver
We were tasked with transforming an 800 sq. ft backyard in Highlands, Denver into a modern oasis. The project included a variety of high-end features such as a monochromatic paver pattern, step units to improve flow and connectivity, a custom fire feature, an outdoor kitchen with concrete countertops, a recreational area with a climbing wall, and a sun patio with high-density and high-definition materials. We also added Bluetooth-controlled outdoor lighting with up to 3,000 color options, giving the space a truly unique and customizable feel.
To ensure the project was both durable and visually stunning, we used materials with HD2 Technology (High-Definition and Density) that were factory-sealed for extra stain protection and elevated color boost. Despite the high-end features, we were able to deliver the project within the quoted budget of $100k, with the covered patio being the most expensive item at $25k.

Deck Building Case Studies
Capitol Hill Deck With Privacy Screen
The owners of this home in Capitol Hill, Denver wanted to change their pond in favor of a usable deck space.
Once we demolished the pond, we filled up the area and graded it to create a level plan for the deck. Next up was building the 30×12 deck, complete with a custom-made privacy screen and landscape lighting.
The project was quoted at $14,000 where the most expensive item was the decking material.
Hardwood Ipe Garapa Deck in West Highlands
This deck comes with a special look thanks to the Ipe Garapa hardwood that we imported from Brazil. It’s a 288 ft² surface with hidden tiger claw fasteners. We finished it up with a clear stain to highlight the natural beauty of the wood.
The project was quoted at $14,000, where the most expensive item was the imported hardwood.
Centennial Composite Deck with railing and arbor

4-Zones Front & Back yard Irrigation In Colorado
The owners of this home wanted to liven up their landscape but grass was having a hard time staying green. We went to install a smart irrigation system with Wi-Fi controls, spray nozzles, and rotors sprinklers. The surface where the irrigation system works is 500 ft², at both the front and the back of the house.
The project was quoted at $7,800 where the WiFi controller was the most expensive item.
Retrofitting Irrigation System In Bonnie Brae, Denver
The clients of this backyard already had an irrigation system that connected with their pond, but it didn’t extend to the other areas of their lawn. They also didn’t want to keep the pond anymore, so we started with removing the pond rocks and re-grading the area.
Next, we created new planter beds with new drip zones, as well as custom drip zones for the lawn space.
The project was quoted at $5,000 where the custom drip zones were the most expensive item.

French Drain Installation Case Studies
Storm water management And erosion control
This large drainage project started at the rooftop of the house, from where excess water goes into a drip line to the downspout system, and then into the water retention systems.
Stiff-walled pipes and additional collection basins catch and redirect surface water away from the home into catch basins. The catch basins then allow water to slowly leak into the soil without going into the city’s drainage system.
The project was quoted at $10,000 where the trenching, soil removal, and installing natural rock for filtration were the most expensive items.
Keep Your Property Water-Free
Your French drain system will allow you to enjoy a dry and safe backyard all year long.
